Dinner Dance – 7th September

This year’s dinner and dance will be held on Saturday 7th September at The Swan Hotel starting at 5:30pm. This will give us all plenty time to have a welcome drink, three course dinner and a good old boogie on the dance floor!!

Tickets are priced at £35 with places limited to 80 guests (same as last year), so to avoid disappointment, buy your tickets early. Seating requests can be made and if you have a group of 10 you can “buy a table”.

A choice of red, white and rose wine will be served with dinner and if you have any special dietary requirements, please contact me and we will accommodate where possible.

How to buy your tickets….

Martin Ball will be at the cricket club after his match this Saturday afternoon along with Charlotte Skelton and Lee Partner selling tickets so if you’re up there you can pay them in cash or cheque (made payable to Alton Cricket Club). Please could you place the money in an envelope with your name on, makes it easier for Charlotte and I to keep track of who has paid. You can also drop cash or cheque through our letter box if that’s easier for you, just drop me a message and I’ll let you know where we live.

Also, if you are a student playing for the club who would like to spread the cost of the ticket over the remaining 7 playing weeks Richard Myers is quite happy to collect an extra £5 off you on top of you match fees. Just let Richard and myself or Charlotte know.

I am still negotiating the menu so as soon as I have it confirmed I will pop the details on here.

If you have any questions or would like any further information please don’t hesitate to contact me or charlotte either on facebook or via email at kayanderson … at … fastmail … co … uk

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Fundraising ideas – your thoughts needed

The club always has projects that have require financial assistance, from the renovating, tidying and relaying the net surfaces through to pitch bookings, league subscriptions and colt equipment purchases.

You may already have noticed the donation bucket on the bar of the JCG. The clubs target is to raise £1,000 this summer so if you have any spare change; please do donate.

In addition several of us connected with the club are considering various ways to keep you all entertained on Saturday nights throughout the season, the aim is to encourage you and your family and friends to visit the Clubhouse bar after play has finished; keep you fed and watered and relieve of you of just a little of your hard earned cash.

Such a diverse membership across all of the teams means that it is almost impossible to arrange events that suit everybody’s taste; but we would very much appreciate your support if an event that does peak your interest is arranged. The club grew larger than just playing cricket on a Saturday afternoon and your continued support at fundraising events is required and appreciated.

Events currently being considered are:

Race Night – The thrills and spills of the Sport of Kings brought to you in the relaxed surroundings of the JCG. We will consider attempting to run this in house to keep costs down and profits up.

Quiz night – A fun way to relax, have fun and test the memory banks. Probably run as a lottery type quiz to allow everyone an equal chance to scoop the cash prize.

Acoustic Music Nights – Looking at booking local musician(s) to display their musical talents.

An evening with – We are currently seeking a “localish” ex First Class Cricketer to engage for an evening of interesting stories of their career – Likely to have an outlay in booking this person so this may be tickets in advance only.

End of Season Big Bash – An extravaganza of fun, with a Disco, humorous award presentations, halfprice bar, BBQ, with the added bonus of a Prize Draw.

I would love to hear from as many of you as possible as to whether these or any other ideas/events are something you would be keen on attending. Or if you have any suggestions of your own.

Equally if you know of any local firms that would be keen to assist in supporting the club, individual teams or individual players please e-mail me matt.ireson@altoncc.co.uk
