Beer Festival adds fizz to Alton CC
Across two amazing Beer Festival sessions, around 200 people soaked up the incredible atmosphere at Alton Cricket Club on Saturday April 20th.
The Festival, the club’s first, was the brainchild of club stalwarts Tony Oakley and Julian Ballinger, ably assisted by Hog Back Brewery’s Dom Ronane.
Dom put together a wonderfully disparate selection of beers, a full list of which is below, from a variety of breweries across the South. Concentrating on balancing tastes, styles and flavours, the beers available were just a part of what made the day magical.
Every single person who volunteered from within and, even more impressively, from outside the club also added to the special feel and the JCG clubhouse can rarely have been so busy of a Saturday evening.
Iain Cooper in his guide as “Coops Acoustic Sessions” coordinated singers and bands to entertain throughout the day in the end around 10 different artists performed, some (The Stompin Nomads) travelled down from Walton on Thames to entertain and delight.
Bowtells Farm Shop were on hand to provide excellent homemade burgers, sausages and watercress soup and the transport to and from the venue was ably provided by Wilson’s Taxis.
