2nd XI back to winning ways

Alton 2nd XI got back to winning ways after last week’s heavy defeat, with a good performance against visiting Lymington 2nd XI.

The Brewers’ innings of 232 was based around Jack Penn’s 49 early in the innings. However, after a mid-order slump it was left to the hard-hitting Mike Salmon (57) and Alex Hughes (37) to get past the double century.

Lymington were never in the hunt with their reply, after Ian Carpenter (2-28) made the early breakthrough. Toby Salmon once again returned fine figures of 4-27 and young Dan Scott impressed on his 2nd team debut, as the visitors were dismissed for 135.
