Chairman stands down

It with much regret that I am formally announcing my intention to stand down as Chairman of ACC. My work commitments have increased significantly over the past 2 years and, with the increasing amount of time I find myself in Germany, I just don’t have the time to commit to such an important and pivotal role in the club.

When I took over I had the ideas, desire, capacity and commitment to take over from the previous Chairman whose availability at that time mirrors my own presently. Unfortunately that is not the case now and I don’t feel that I am doing anyone any favours by standing for re-election at the forthcoming AGM.

I still plan to manage the U15s, support the girls and continue to captain the 4th XI (if asked), but I don’t have the capacity or availability to continue on the committee.

Every year I say at the AGM that we need more members to stand for the committee or for supporting roles within the club. As the club grows and as the pressure on all cricket clubs seems to be ever increasing, the requirement for members to stand up and be counted is more important than ever. The club should think about the expectations it places on its management team. We are volunteers too you know!

I don’t intend to make any recommendations or to propose any candidates for my replacement but would ask that whoever is elected at the AGM the membership fully supports. It is a demanding role that needs someone with ideas, capacity, capability but most importantly the full support of the membership.

I would very much like to thank all members of the club for their support over the past seven years and especially to those members who have given their time and commitment through this period.
