Batting first after winning the toss, Alton posted a competitive 233-7 from their 45 overs. Ian Carpenter anchored the innings superbly with 73, sharing useful partnerships with Andy Pearce (32), Rory Butler (31) and Nathan Vincent, whose quickfire 40 from just 27 balls gave the visitors valuable late momentum.
Alton made early inroads with the ball, reducing Ramsdell to 6-1, before Jamie Craig's impressive spell of 3-39 helped keep the pressure on through the middle overs. However, Luke Shore's unbeaten 60 and an unbroken sixth-wicket partnership with Jon Drake guided the hosts to 235-5 with more than six overs to spare.
Despite the defeat, there were encouraging individual performances from Carpenter with the bat and Craig with the ball as Alton picked up nine league points.
