In a bottom of the table clash Alton 4s visited Headley’s new ground at Bordon and Oakhanger. After winning the toss and fielding the Brewers made steady gains into the Headley line up with an excellent runout from Jamie Craig followed swiftly by wickets for Jon Porter and Abi Green. John Canning and Hazel Wilkinson steadied the innings before veteran Adrian Trim removed Canning and then Green, back for her second spell, cleaned up Wilkinson; Headley eventually all out for 137 with Trim picking up a cheeky 4-for 17.
After recent collapses Alton needed a steady start and at drinks with the score on 60-0 it seemed that is just what skipper Martin Green and Jon Wills had set up. Some excellent bowling from Headley though ramped up the pressure and Alton fell behind the rate as the wickets fell at regular intervals. When Wills was bowled for 38 and then Iyer quickly afterwards for 1 it seemed that the win was out of reach. Abi Green gave the Brewers a chance with a quick fire 27 off 12 balls and with great support from Aussie, Renee Hough the target was once again within reach. Once Hough was run out and then Green bowled shorty after by the excellent Canning the game was up. Trim and Porter ensured that the 4th losing bonus point was secured and the Brewers were left 11 runs short of what should have been their first win of the season.
