Last game for legend Jeffrey ends in defeat for Brewers

End of May and still no win the 4s to celebrate. Frensham were the visitors to the JCG this week and inserted the Brewers after winning the toss. A change at the top of the order saw young Cam Rhodes given his opportunity - one that he took with great panache, batting for an hour and playing some lovely late cuts. The problem was the other end with the experienced trio of Wills, Crook and Green all quickly departing. Vishwas in what might be his last game for a while as he plans to take some paternity leave from the game put up some resistance as did Trim, before both were removed by the ever accurate Frensham attack. Matt Jeffrey hit his highest score for the 4s but will emigrate to Canada knowing he never quite made double figures (a through and through 4th team player!). The Brewers knew that they needed to take early wickets to have any chance of securing an unlikely victory. Harry Lynn made the breakthrough with a high catch to Crook, and when Abi Green took a lovely catch to dismiss Harrison off Porter the comeback was on. Unfortunately from that point on there were dropped catches and misfields that let Frensham take complete control of the game. Johnstone won the game with a boundary for his 50, but it may have been so different as he was dropped on 3. Trim once again was the pick of the bowlers with another 2 wickets and 3 maidens, increasing his all-time record for maidens by any bowler for the Brewers ? the search for the first win takes the Brewers to Woodstreet Village next week.
