After being asked to bat first on a damp track, the Frimley top order decided that attack was the way to go. Rose, Ahmed and Hebditch (snr) all came out playing shots – big shots! After 10 overs the score was close to 100 and a huge total looked likely. The returning George Austin bowled good lines whilst the youngsters Gemma Connolly and Abi Green discovered that any width gets hit a long way! Ball and Connolly (Snr) slowed the rate down with Connolly dismissing both Ahmed and Hebdith – the latter to a spectacular one handed catch from Rohan Wills. Frimley pushed on for a big total which enabled the returning Austin and Green picked up two late wickets each. Frimley ending on 241/8.
Despite losing Jeffrey and Mark Bramah early doors, Alton pushed on at the required run rate. Had Ball (55), Sebi Bramah (24) or Rohan Wills (27) been able to convert their starts into something more, then the Brewers may have written a different script. But it was not to be – Frimley bowled well, especially the leg spinner Hebditch (Jnr) and Alton were all out for 160, 8 runs short of the 2nd bonus point. George Auston capped an impressive return with 24 not out – if only someone could have stayed with him!
